Make sure to snuggling up on the sofa in comfort and warmth of your homes this winter; it is set to a cold one!
It is that time of year again; that inevitable drop in the temperature that confirms that summer really is over. It may only be autumn right now, but one thing’s not in doubt, winter is well and truly on the way. As a result keeping warm and cuddling up on our
sofas is high on everyone’s agenda.
It’s usually easier to keep warm when we’re busy at work or running around the house doing various chores, and, with coats, hats, scarves, and gloves, we can wrap up when we need to go be out of doors, but it’s when we want to relax on a cold wet Sunday afternoon, or in the evening after a hard day’s work, that we remember how cold it can be when we’re not moving about. Keeping warm is also of utmost importance when hoping to avoid the common cold or even the dreaded flu. There is the general consensus that the best place to be when we really want to relax is on the sofa. Granted there are many ways of ensuring we keep warm, however we all seem to enjoy sprawling on our sofas, in complete comfort and warmth especially during those chilly winter evenings.
One accessory that now comes hand in hand with the sofa is the ‘throw’. Throws these days often make their debut throughout the household, over beds chairs sofa and in even baby’s cots. Not only is a throw practical but it also looks stylish and elegant draped over a piece of furniture. It is easily double up as something to snuggle under for extra warmth not to mention is a money saver with soaring heating bills during the winter month. They can be made of almost any type of fabric, including faux fur and fleece, or a luxury cashmere, although many people nowadays are turning their hands to making their own. With the blow of the recent credit crunch epidemic there has been an increase in the number of people taking up knitting creating blankets made up from affordable soft wool.
Another great idea that has recently made its debut is the ‘Slanket’ – a version of the common-or-garden throw or blanket, but one that can be worn and that doesn’t even need to be taken off for that trip to put the kettle on for a cuppa. The ‘Slanket’ wraps you up like a giant oversized sleeping bag but, because the end is not closed in, you can still move around in it. It’s made from a soft warm fabric that will maintain your own body heat, so you never need to feel the cold. Of course, warm as it is, it’s hardly the thing to go shopping in, and it also won’t double up as something appropriate for a romantic evening in by the fire, but sometimes keeping warm is the only thing that matters.
