When you’re looking to buy a sofa, one thing many people don’t consider is if they require any maintenance. Some styles of sofas need more attention than others, so consider if your sofa will need a bit of daily maintenance, as well as how easy it will be to clean - before you buy your next sofa!

Daily sofa maintenance:

- If you like the look of sofas with a loose back and a soft fibre or feather fill, keep in mind they will require daily straightening and plumping.

- A sofa with a harder filling and either attached cushions or a tightly fitted back will require very little preening and will hold the shape better.

Sofa Cleaning:

- When choosing your sofa, one with removable fabric will make cleaning easy.

- If you have children and pets and don’t want a sofa with a removable cover, consider getting a darker colour or patterned sofa to cut down the visibility of any unsightly stains that may occur.

- Leather sofas are a low maintenance option if you want to cut down your cleaning time, as most spills will simply wipe off and need very little stain removal.

While the style of sofa you choose will be largely dependant on the style of the room you are furnishing, taking in consideration how you need to care for it before you buy could save you a bit of frustration in the long run!
