In this day and age you can buy almost anything online – including furniture. There’s plenty of reasons why you should buy furniture online, such as convenience of browsing and comparing prices anytime of the day or night in your own home… But how should you go about buying furniture online?

Here’s five tips to make buying furniture easier:

1. Get a few home, decorating and design magazines in that feature homes you like the style of. For example, if you like the country look, browse through magazines like Country Style for some ideas on what kind of furniture will coordinate well.

2. Go to a large furniture store and get a feel for what you like. For example, if you’re going to buy a sofa online, go in store and try a few out to figure out what kind of sofas you prefer and will fit best in your home.

3. Once you’ve got a strong idea of exactly what types of furniture you’d like to purchase, shopping around to check for sales and discount offers is far easier online than dragging yourself from store to store!

4. Check the measurements! If the measurements of the furniture aren’t listed, email the company to find out the actual size and whether it comes assembled. Don’t just measure the area you plan to put the furniture in, but also the doorframe it has to get through!

5. Check delivery dates, charges, return policies, warranties and any additional charges, such as insurance, before you buy. It wouldn’t hurt to investigate a little on the reputation of the company too.

Once you’ve done these five steps, you should have found the piece of furniture you love, at a great price from a reputable company - that you know will fit perfectly! So what’s left to do? It’s time to buy your first piece of furniture online!
