Cord Sofas

Corduroy has made a comeback in the fashion world recently, including in interior design.

A corduroy sofa may seem like a bit of a strange combination at first. To many, the word corduroy conjures up images of grandpa in his slippers fast asleep in front of the fire. Perhaps not the most stylish of trouser choices back in the day, corduroy has had a bit of an image change, particularly when it comes to sofas.

In fact you could say that corduroy or cord as it is more popularly known these days (why do we feel the need to shorten everything?) is having a mini revival. Gone are the dull colours of old, replaced by wild fuschia, stunning mustard, stylish pewter or more calming neutrals.

The size of cord has changed too with both plush jumbo cord or a more tailored pin stripe cord being the order of the day. If you are after a large slouchy sofa then cord could be your thing. Big sofas demand big fabrics and there is nothing that says ''BIG'' like a jumbo cord fabric.

What hasn't changed though is the serious level of comfort that you get from such a tactile fabric. There is nothing better than to sink into a thick cord sofa at the end of a long day and be enveloped in its plush loveliness! Of course Grandpa knew a thing or two about comfort so why not take a cue from the ol' fella? If body hugging comfort is your thing, then you need to give corduroy serious consideration when buying your next sofa.
