Chesterfield Sofas

Chesterfield Sofas

The Chesterfield sofa has to rank pretty highly in a list of all time furniture design classics. In fact, it is probably safe to say that the Chesterfield is the most famous sofa design in the world.

Once the preserve of stuffy Gentlemen’s Clubs and libraries, (not to mention the odd public house), this classic design has had a bit of a resurgence of late. The Chesterfield's timeless appeal makes it a great retro choice for family homes as well as more formal surroundings.

Having been around for some considerable time (over 300 years in fact!) it is no surprise that the Chesterfield has gone through a few minor style adjustments over the years.

Our Chesterfield design sticks to the classic design features of scroll arms and back of equal height, buttoned by hand in antique leather. Complemented by a Georgian high back chair or a large Queen Anne bench stool, our Chesterfield range is available in four classic colours; gold, red, green and brown.

We also offer a version of the classic design on raised hardwood legs called the Cambridge. Again, hand buttoned by our team of craftsmen in our UK workshop, the Cambridge comes in seven colours including black, forest and chocolate (must have been a cake day!)

Despite the Chesterfield’s firm exterior, it is a sofa that can also be surprisingly comfortable. Add a couple of squishy cushions, a sheepskin throw or two and you’ll really be in your element. Not only that, but because chesterfields are quite posh looking, you can recline just like royalty (country home or palace entirely optional).

And therein lies the real beauty of the Chesterfield; a grand stylish piece of upholstery fit for the Earl himself, but also a very homely and surprisingly comfortable sofa.
